Let’s face it, the fitness industry has got it all wrong when it comes to helping people in their 40s, 50s and beyond.
For too long, fitness has been focussed on punishing workouts, calorie-burn obsession, and transformation photos that mean nothing the moment your diet ends.
The thing is, real fitness is about building a body that works for you – not against you – for life.
And because we keep our groups small and personal, new member spaces are limited — which is why we’re currently running a waitlist for our next intake.
The welcome is first class, an effort is made by all to make you feel at ease, the training is excellent with real clarity in the how and why for each exercise and every coach is aware of individual needs though the clever approach they take in noting all personal requirements.

I pay for a subscription which gives me 12 small group PT sessions, and unlimited group classes per month. The PT classes are you, and a maximum of 5 others to one PT in a session. There are multiple programs per week and these vary every few weeks also. I like the fact that my program never gets “stuck in a rut” because someone else is doing the thinking and planning for me, then holding me accountable in session.
I’ve been a member for a few years and love the community feel of POWER. All the PTs are friendly, knowledgeable and somehow, always energetic, even if they started at 4:30 am!
You can book regular 1:1 reviews with a PT and the teams tailor these, and your program, to support your personal goals.
They organise regular extra curricular events including summer hikes, Christmas quizzes, sports day, Halloween fancy dress and much more!
All other members are also friendly and welcoming. If like me, you want to stay fit and healthy but need help keeping you motivated and staying on track, POWER is just the place.

I cannot recommend Power PT Gym highly enough. My wife and I used to do PT with each of the two founders, Tom and Callum, at another gym, before they set up their first venture in Menston. So we were already “sold”. I joined shortly after they opened the new gym in 2023. The first thing you’ll notice is how they have created such a welcoming atmosphere and effective way of doing things, which is different to other gyms and is continuing to evolve based around each of them continuing with their vision, but also feedback from members. This is not for you if you want to work out while your kids splash around in the pool, or you want to laze around in a steam room. It’s pure fitness, guided by experts. It will suit couples, singles, parents/teens through to people who have retired. It doesn’t matter what age you are or level of fitness. You will be made to feel welcome at Power – even if you’ve never set foot in a gym before.
PT sessions are for up to 6 people, and the place is big enough to have 3 groups at once, but usually there is 2 running concurrently and the rest of the space is used for one of the several classes that are included in your membership. Subscriptions are tailored around how many PT sessions you think you will want each month. Two is good to start with, but you can do more. When you are presented with the pricing structure, you might at first think it’s more expensive than you might have expected. However, consider this for a moment. How many gyms have you been to where you pay the membership each month and then don’t go? I was one of those. At Power, you’ll go because you book your sessions in advance. And unless you are ill, you’ll find you get into a routine and want to follow through. You’re also exercising with a group, so there’s an element of ‘social’ thrown in. The other thing to say about the price is that you can attend as many classes as you want, so if you did 2 PT and 3 classes, it’s tremendous value for money. Classes are focused on strength, mobility and cardio, and they have recently introduced a running club on Wednesdays and Saturdays which is proving popular – perfect if you need that extra push to get out the door. There is also a social side to being a member. Whilst you won’t feel like having a conversation when you are trying to deadlift your bodyweight, there’s an optional monthly get together for members which ranges from walks in the countryside to group entries to local Parkruns. So, it’s good for meeting people. You get a MyZone HR monitor as part of your membership which keeps you focused on hitting monthly goals and is, if I am honest, mildly addictive (in a good way), since I took mine on holiday so that I didn’t fall short of my calorie burning goal for the month! And you can book a progress review at any time, to see what progress you are making or refocus on another goal. No matter how busy you are, you’ll find a time to suit you on their weekly programme which starts at 6AM during the week if you need to ‘get it over with’ before work! The level of supervision and advice is optimum and (hand on heart) probably just as good as having PT on a 1-2-1 basis, but with the added benefits of unlimited classes, a sense of community, and a positive and supportive atmosphere.
If you’re not sure, just ask for a 30-day trial. I guarantee you won’t want to stop at the end of it because it’s much more personal than any of the bigger gyms or health clubs I’ve been a member of. Tom and Callum have managed to assemble a great team of people who all have the same ethos as themselves. Everyone remembers your name. I wish them continued success.
The staff always provide a fun and friendly atmosphere whilst exercising which helps keep the energy levels high.
I was made to feel very welcome from all the staff and other members from the start of my membership and I now look forward to going to the gym rather than it feeling like a chore.
